　　Step 1：提出请求

　　尽管本文讲得是如何书写请求推荐信的邮件的写法，需要说明的是，如果有条件的.话，当面提出请老师写推荐信往往是更好地选择。因为除非老师人特别不nice，或者你跟老师的关系特别差，老师一般不会当面拒绝你的请求。邮件请求则有被老师搁置和无视的可能。

　　邮件标题：Request for Recommendation for [Your Name]

　　该邮件标题是此类邮件比较稳妥的一种标题。

　　正文：

　　Dear Prof. [Surname],

　　My name is XXX and I am a student of XXXX. I have taken part in your course XX. I am applying XXXXX program, and I was wondering whether it is possible for you to write a letter of recommendation for me.

　　开头介绍自己并说明来函目的。

　　My academic interests lie in the fields of XXX. I have the educational background of XX, and I also have relevant research experience on XXXX. I think I am prepared for further study in the field of XXX and I am planning to apply to the graduate program of XXX. It would be of great help and  I would really appreciate it if you can send a letter of recommendation to support my application. My resume with more detailed information is attached here.

　　简单介绍自己申什么项目，为什么申该项目。对老师可能提供的帮助表示感谢。

　　Thank you very much. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Best Regards,

　　Step 2:等待回复及继续交涉沟通

　　这一步骤的邮件的写法依据你与教授沟通的情况而定。你能做的就是保持礼貌，秒回邮件，对所申项目对推荐信的各种要求了如指掌，对答如流。

　　Step 3:获得推荐后感谢推荐人

　　Dear Prof. XXX,

　　Thank you so much for spending time and effort on my recommendation. I really appreciate it.

　　感谢信顺理成章地想到用感谢式的开头。

　　Your recommendation letter means so much to me, and it will open doors and provide opportunities as I start the next stage of my academic life. I will keep you updated about my progress in applying to graduate school. Thanks again.

　　对推荐人的工作进行热情洋溢地赞美，表明会对申请情况作出通知。
